Mediation and Alternative Dispute Resolution
Mediation is a process using a trained and impartial neutral to guide parties to a peaceful resolution. Mediation empowers parties to agree to solutions that the Court could not or may not order, making their result both creative and cost-effective. Mediation can offer enormous benefits to parties in terms of controlling the course their case takes, saving time, preserving confidentiality and getting to a final result in a less stressful and expensive way than traditional litigation can afford.
Our attorneys are trained mediators that can be hired to assist you in resolving your family law matter. We provide legal information, guide your negotiations and draft the necessary legal documents. If needed, we can also draw on our extensive professional connections to assemble an interdisciplinary team of professionals to inform your options and guide your decisions: from financial professionals to answer questions of value for businesses and other assets or guide how best to divide your assets and debts to a child specialist to address disputes involving children.
Collaborative Family Law
Attorney Ashley Richter is an experienced, trained collaborative attorney. She is active with the Collaborative Family Law Council of Wisconsin that spearheads the evolution of the collaborative process in Wisconsin. In the collaborative process, the parties agree not to litigate their disputes and to use good faith efforts in the negotiations to reach a mutually acceptable settlement that will meet the interests of the entire family. In the collaborative process, parties must be represented by trained collaborative attorneys that will advocate for you within a respectful, cooperative framework with the entire family’s interests in mind.
The parties pledge to voluntarily disclose all information relevant and material to the matter without expensive formal discovery requests or dueling experts. We confer to jointly select other collaboratively trained professionals jointly that can assist in a comprehensive resolution, from mental health professionals for the parents, a child specialist trained in divorce and children, and financial professionals for asset or business valuations or to guide how best to divide your assets and debts. There are many variations of the team approach, and Attorney Ashley Richter can help you select the customized approach that will work best for your situation.
